Update On Resources From ‘Green Careers Partnership’

Happy Holidays Contractors:

This is a brief email update on resources available to the construction industry, which has been hardest hit by the weakened economy.

1. The Green Careers Partnership and Shoreline Industries are down to the last of the ARRA funded On-the-job training funding. This funding will be available for you to hire green construction and building performance professionals from January to June 2011. It will pay for 50-75% of a new-hires’ salary for 3-6 months. We have graduates from the Construction and Energy Management program at Cabrillo College that have undergone an 18 month course that includes green construction, building performance science, solar installations, NABCEP and BPI certifications (in most cases), project management, etc. Hartnell College has a sister program with recent graduates as well. We can get you their resumes and set up interviews for you if you’re interested in taking advantage of the funding to hire these qualified individuals. These positions will go fast, so contact us quickly. You may receive a phone call from one of us if you have worked with us in the past. Email blair@greencareerspartnership.org and/or jo@greencareerspartnership.org .

2. The EnergyUpgrade California program is being launched in January. The EUC is a program sponsored by American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding from the California Energy Commission. This program provides marketing, community coordination, financing and rebates for homeowners to upgrade their homes, in a one-stop shop for all counties in California. There are some required trainings that we are trying to have offered locally early in 2011. We will keep you posted. In the meantime, for more information, visit http://www.energyupgradecalifornia.com
