Santa Cruz Animal Shelter Needs You: Foster or Adopt a Puppy Now!
Friday, October 17, 2025
The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter (SCCAS) is overflowing with lovable puppies and young mixed-breed dogs needing homes. With nearly 7,000 animals taken in yearly, surrenders are spiking due to housing and economic challenges, leaving kennels packed with playful lab mixes, shepherd blends, and terrier crosses.
Meet the Pups
- Peter: 4 month old Husky x Australian cattle dog mix, great with dogs and cats, ideal for fostering.
- Latke: Young mixed breed cuddler, dog social and people social.
- Puppy Litters: Energetic mixed breeds under 6 months, perfect for families.

How to Help
- Foster: Take in a pup for weeks or months. SCCAS provides food, crates, and vet care. Apply at www.scanimalshelter.org/foster-program.
- Adopt: Affordable fees cover spay/neuter and vaccines. Apply online or visit.
The Santa Cruz Construction Guild calls on our community to help SCCAS (1001 Rodriguez St., Santa Cruz, 831-454-7200, [email protected]) give these pups a chance. Foster or adopt today—check sccg.us to share your story!
A thank you to Susan Dee Cummins, a 16-year member of the guild, for bringing it to our attention.
